And Mandela was an embarrassment of a president spunking SA's entire budget on the military and nothing on his people. Stupid cunt was buying fighter jets left and right thinking Lesotho/Swasiland/ZImbabwe/Botswana would invade them.

Lot of everyday people bang on about that Nelson Mandella bloke n'all.

When they ask the likes of Beckham etc who the most insperational person they have met, they blab on about Mandella. How can that be? How could he be insperational to the likes of Beckham? Lots of people in history been banged up for crimes they didnt commit.

I went out fishing to avoid her funeral that day and was driving home listening to the radio and some choral music was playing (Taverner i think) Then the bloke on the radio said now for the minutes silence, so I quickly put a CD on, I really had no interest in it.

Further down the road I saw a bunch of tits standing by a bus which had stopped, so I gave them a few blasts of my horn.

The old boys lining the train route and saluting...man..that pulls at the heart strings.
That was a bond.

I remember the weirdest single quote from that time was some bloke standing in the queue to sign the grievance book saying,

"I didn't really cry or get upset when my mum died but this has really upset me" or similar words.

WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU? was the obvious question the interviewer should have asked him.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
I remember the incident you're talking about. The twat you're referring to said "I didn't cry as much at my dad's funeral as much as I cried today."
How the fuck anyone can say anything so ridiculous, especially on national television, I don't know.
There was also that bloke that got beaten up for washing his car, instead of watching the funeral on tv.
Although i thought Diana was an alright person, national reaction to her death was well over the top.

The bit about just saying I divorce you three times would save a few bob on parasitical lawyers.

Re: Princess Diana, A saint who has lived among us
Fifth. Divorce isn't ILLEGAL under Islam, but it's bloody weird.

"In the ṭalāq divorce, the husband pronounces the phrase "I divorce you" (in Arabic, talaq) to his wife. A man may divorce his wife three times, taking her back after the first two (reconciling).

"After the third talaq they can't get back together until she marries someone else. Some do a "triple ṭalāq", in which the man says in one sitting "I divorce you" three times (or "I divorce you, three times", "you're triple divorced").

"Many Islamic scholars believe there is a waiting period involved between the three talaqs, pointing to Quran 65:1[Quran 65:1] and various hadiths. However the practice of "triple ṭalāq" at one sitting has been "legally recognized historically and has been particularly practiced in Saudi Arabia."

Nuts!! Then again, I was born into a Catholic family so can't throw stones... Still mad, though.

Stirling (and I think Nurse) posted up a few articles the other day about women locked into arranged marriages in our ultra-orthadox Jewish communities.

Doesn't sound a happy life for a woman in them.

I liked her. I did feel some people took the grief a bit too far.

Re: Princess Diana, A saint who has lived among us
Divorces arising from arranged marriages are on the increase just like divorce in the wider population.

Divorce is not forbidden in Islam and never has been though it's true that most Muslim societies are very patriachal and make it very difficult if not impossible for women to get divorced even though they are religously entitled to do so.

Of all the married couples I know of my age, the most happy seem to be those who had arranged marriages and the least happy seem to be others who've had arranged marriages... like they're either all loved up or they detest each other... and I know several who've divorced after arranged marriages.

I know more who have divorced from normal marriages though - I do think those having an arranged marriage seem generally more committed to making it work. That committment is surely a good thing?

Doubt many of the women (or men) locked into them likely under pain of death would consider their plight a success.

At the time Burrell came across as her only real friend but I think over time he has been found to be a manipulative cunt who saw how desperate she was after being cast aside. Bloke's a cunt.
